Need help Quick

Someone help me quick - I need a new HPOP and IPR and the dealer gets $869 and $360 respectively. I've found the combo online for $550, but I want to know if anyone knows a really reliable place to get these parts.

Want my truck back asap..... please help.

I found this place today:
MWFI - FordPowerstrokeOilPumps

Not a bad price at all. I really don't think you will beat the price in such a short notice.

thanks for the help guys. Fortunately it was just the IPR and the pump was fine.

To answer the question - the tech at my local dealer(who has been very good to me and saved my *** a couple times in the past) said I needed it. I guess the pressure reading was in the single digits and it needs to be around 14-15%??? Percent of what I don't know. Anyway - maybe I got had, but I don't think so as the truck is fixed and running normally with "only" a new IPR. Just wish I had the time to source the part from somewhere else, as they are half as expensive online. I guess it the cost of being in a pinch and without wheels.

I'd love to hear what you experts would have done. I'm knowledgeable enough to be dangerous, but learning every day. Thanks in many cases to the people on this forum.

So the IPR keeps pressure down(or regulated), and when it fails it allows to much oil pressure to get to the injectors - therefore keeping them from opening properly? Do I have this even remotely close?

i think you probably could have refurbished your ipr - cleaned it up and checked/replaced o-rings. there are threads on here that will tell you how to tear it apart and put it back together... a little too late now, but since you asked, I would probably have tried that first, to save some dinero...

I see you're running on waste oil, also...

I had to clean mine one time on my other truck because it got gunked up with veg. oil goo from fuel leaks. Truck wouldn't start. After cleaning the ipr with some seafoam, it started up with no problem. If you have leaks in the valley from your fuel lines, or splash when you're changing your filter, the fuel will get to the ipr and wires and such. this is especially problematic if you're running WVO, because with time the residue turns to a thick gel, almost like silicone. not what you want inside sensors, electronics, and other components...

If the hpop fails or gets weak the ipr % will increase to try to maintain pressure. If the ipr fails the pressure will drop. You need 500 psi at idle.

The ipr has nothing to do with controlling fuel. But... the connection can be an issue.
