No, Flowtech is not a knock off of Flowmaster.
Raptor is the quietest Flowtech muffler per my conversation with their tech folks. It's a turbo, which means three tubes, but full diameter throughout. You can access them as one of the brands listed on the Holley.com home page. As I said, I love the sound of my Raptor, though at times I wouldn't mind if it were louder, but it gives my 300 I6 what to me is a muscle sound, throaty and deep. Love to wind it out. I put vid clips on here about a year ago maybe I can dig them up.
Flowtech makes the Purple Hornies that I have heard about several times on this site. They have one called the Terminator, that has to be bitchen loud! It has two pipes, both ending in the center chamber and offset. The Warlock is a turbo, but has a plug that can be pulled out to make a straight through for the track or open country.
Oh, and the other thing is the Raptor is pretty small, prob half or 1/3 the total volume of the stock muffler for a 300 I6, and a smaller case generally means louder. But again, the Raptor is not that loud. Most people who what loud trucks would consider it too quiet.
Do you have your muffler dumped, or no..? Do you have cats?
You should dig up those soundclips and put them on the sound clip thread in the I6 forum. I remember you talking about your Raptor a looong time ago.
Just put a sound clip in the I6 forum thread. It is revving while sitting still. I had a good one on the go and it would sound better, if I can find it and upload it to photobucket then I'll add it to the thread.
Through Summit yes, but not at a muffler shop. Summit can sell them so cheap because they buy them at wholesale bulk, but by time you pay to ship them, you pay the same price as you would at your local muffler shop.
Also, the prices I quoted was with install prices included, minus any extra pipe, tips, etc. If you just cut the stock mufflers off, and wanted a muffler with turndowns, that was the price $80 per SI/SO and $125 SI/DO installed with turndowns.
Oh, also, if you purchase the muffler anywhere else, you have to pay to install it as well. Some places charge up to $15 per weld to install, where if you purchase the muffler from them, the install price is significantlly lower.
