Hello everyone,,i have a 2000 f250 with the v10 and my muffler has a hole and was wondering what is the best affordable set up to go with ???should i just cut the muffler put a straiht pipe??? or is there a muffler that makes this thing sound sweet????...so all and all should i just cut the pipe ,,or get a muffler thanks guys
It's all opinion here. Myself, I thing the V10's sound like crap with anything but stock setup. Maybe without the resonator is okay. A straight piped V10 sounds like two Hondas with fart cans running at the same pitch.
If your stock exhaust piping is in good shape there isn't really a need to change it. A single in single out double offset Flowmaster 70 BB2 will fit nicely in place of the stock muffler. You only need a short piece of 3" tubing to fill the gap. Below are links to my exhaust threads. The 70 BB2 is a little louder than stock, sounds good and kills a lot of annoying drone. It is an aluminized steel muffler so just keep in mind it will rust out quicker than stainless mufflers, it healps to keep some header paint on it. If you didn't already check your stock exhaust hangers for rust, especially the hanger near the converter. They can rust up pretty bad and require replacing.

I can vouch for this, this is exactly the set up I used when I took a Spintech off mine. It sounds great, very quiet and NO drone at speed.
Based heavily on input here, I also went the FM route - even though I usually hate the FM drone!
I do have to admit the BIG ones do sound decent on the V10. I agree straight pipes on v10 sounds horrible.
I tow a lot, so I wanted the biggest, least droney FM possible. The Big Block 50 with single 3" in and out worked perfect. No regrets. A little louder than stock, but minimal drone or farty sounds.
Note: I do live in a rust free zone!
