Hey guys, I have a 04 f350 sw totally stock 38,000 miles. I do have Boost, trans and Egt gauges. I would like to lower the egt a little. Would it be a benefit to remove the Cat and replace the muffler with an aftermarket and keeping it stock size 3.5" o.d. I don't want to spend to much money right now, I need to buy a new rv. What are your thoughts?? Thanks for all the info
I did it with mine....if YOU do it, I hope you (and yours) like the loud exhaust! I love it! With all the windows closes, it isn't TOO bad tho....just love pulling up to a ricer with his driver's window down and romping it too!!!
If you tow, you WILL see a reduction in the EGT's....pulling my 5th wheel, I see 100-200 degree drops pulling the same hills as I had before. I DID save my cat in case I have to take it back to the dealer....Unbolt the pipe, re-install the cat.
I replaced my CAT with a "test" pipe from MBRP. The rest of the exhaust is stock as of now. Fit right on, no complaints. I can hear the turbo wind-up a little better now.

Have you heard about "power elbow's" Banks, Accufab and others make them.
Most of the talk is about HP/Torque/MPG gains.
The seat of my pants is to numb to feel any difference and a .5 to 1.5 MPG gain is .
But I have first hand experience with EGT.
Before installing an Accufab I would have to let off because of high EGT while towing my 13K 5th wheel in Dallas keeping up with traffic.
I've only had to let off once after the elbow install and that was S. bound on I25 going up Raton pass at 60MPH, no more problems in Big D.
Mine has factory tunes, now after all my mods (see sig. below) my EGT's never go past 1100 (25 psi boost) pulling my 8K+ boat over a steep rocky mountain pass with the A/C on.
I think I may have found the winning combo for serious safe pulling.
The EGR caused the water temps into the red (fan ran all the time), now normal temps with blocked EGR.
I have never had a problem with my 6.0, just the transmission.
