I have a 2000 Ranger with a 3.0. I'm tired of haveing to fix this thing. It leaks water and overheats entirely to often. The A/C doesn't work correctly and I cannot swtich the selector ie no defrost. I have decided its time to get rid of it. The way I'm looking at it is that I make 30k a year and have no bills, I shouldm't have to drive a crappy truck.
So heres the question:
Do I save up and co-ap with my father for a new F150 or Mustang.
-or-
Sell the Ranger for $3500 and fix up my 1973 F250 into a daily driver.
Neither! Unless you have no credit, and must go to a dealer (been there / done that) buy slightly used. You can pick up some low mile, couple year old vehicles, especially trucks for a whole lot less than the dealer. I will say there is not as big a difference as there used to be with the big 3 practically begging for new buyers. But at least consider the option. In most cases you can have whatever warrenty is left x-ferred over to you.
I'll never buy new again.....
I agree with PROSTOCK, people have been trading away perfectly good 2 or 3 year old F150s when gas was high this summer. Should be plenty to choose from out there.
You can get up to 8,500 dollars off a new 08 F-150 right and that doesn't count ford X plan if you can get it and thats with full warrenty. Don't buy an 09 mustang GT, the 2010 is supost to have a 400 hp 5.0, you'll kick your self if you do. If you were going to buy the V-6 version then it doesn't matter. I'ld buy new and still slowly fix up your old truck, or wait for the 2010 GT and dump some money into your truck untill they come out.
If you make 30k a year why should you need to borrow ?. Save for about a month and pay cash for something like a used stang found on autotrader. Drive it and continue to save intill you can pay cash for something new...No bills,30k a year is nice.I assume you are young. Better check on what your insurance cost will be before you buy some over rated Gt anything,,,,,One speeding ticket and you could be stuck upside down on a car paying more for insurance than the car would be worth. Ive seen it happin.
I' saw the specs on the 2010 GT, still no 5.0, maybe 2011, I'v read alot of sources saying that it is comming, just a matter of when. The 09 mustang wouldn't be a bad deal as the 2010 has lost some of it's retro styling, which sucks!!!!
The pics on Ford's site for the new 'Stang look pretty nice. Kinda reminds me of the SuperChief (wish that woulda gone through). But I'm happy with my Lightning.
