I'm a 18 year old girl who wants to know more about my truck. I joined this site to find out what i can learn firsthand about my 93' f150, any one else have one that can teach me a few simple things?
i really don't know much of anything about it. my step dad and i are in the process of rebuilding the front end. but its mostly him doing the work, i just caused it.
That would be a straight 6 or a V8, should be an emissions sticker on top of the grill area when the hood is up that will tell you what motor you have, 4.9L is the 6 cylinder, 5.0 or 5.8 are V8's.
Kez...welcome to the wonderful world of trucks! The guys (and girls) here are very good at giving information and, like me, welcome any questions about someone's Ford truck. They will not pick on you, berate you, or otherwise not do anything but offer you real advice and direction. On occasion, they may flip you some sh..! That is part of the deal! Welcome to the world of trucks. I, for one, appreciate you being here. K...enough being polite....bring on your questions...will do my best to not be a smart a.. Won't flip you any more crap than I would another guy with a cool truck...but will always tell you straight up what I think...when it comes to the truck...there is no room for BS! Welcome!
Get a copy of the Haynes manual for your car. Chapter 1 is a good read for a beginner. Just about every public library as a copy. Go down and scan through the manual. I will give you a basis for questions. Good luck.

Kez, Welcome to the site, and Ford Trucks! You will learn alot here. I've been wrenching on mostly cars for the past 25 years, and I still learn something new here almost every day.
I found this site by chance, and now I'm on everyday looking at others questions and offering opinions when I know something or have worked through the problem. You won't find a better group of people to help you learn than here.

Same here! And welcome to our fantastic site. Best initial advice, get the Haynes manual, study chapter 1 and read the rest as needed as previously stated.
Use quality repair parts, motor oils and filters, etc. Your truck deserves it. Kudos to your step dad for taking the time. My stepson and I have wrenched a lot on his old Ford and it strenghtens the bonds. OK, don't get misty eyed on me.
BTW, we all here have opinions, but many users here are trained Ford techs and spot on gear heads.
welcome aboard! I love this site its very informative and alot of fun!
One good thing about our trucks its either a 4.9 straight 6 a 5.0 v8 or a 5.8 v8 all which are great motors! I usually would cringe at having a 6 cylinder but thats a beefy one!
