Well, a few of the Ford SD computers have been programmed, but they tend to be the performance versions in the Mustangs or Lightning trucks. The tools used to tune these computers are tech heavy.. meaning you want to be a bit of a computer programmer to do it. Sady there are no easy handheld tuners like all the ricers or diesel boys use. But all is not lost, you can still upgrade the cam upgrade and add a complete exhaust system , you just have to limit your cam selection to those that play nice with the SD computer.

You motor has a flat tappet cam right now so the Comp 31-255-5 or 35-255-5 are good options. Boring the motor has no effect, and a compression increase is OK as long as you don't go to far, keep it around 9:1.

No.. that won't help. The big reason you don't want too much compression is because the motor will become too detonation prone and you'll have to back the timing way off, nullifying any extra power you get from this. If you want to use more agressive cams you need to convert to mass air. But the 302 will never deliver the performance it does in a stang.. trucks are just too heavy.

Assuming that you are referring to the '89 F150, we might be able to provide some software/hardware options for you to be able to adjust your fuel, timing, and some other functions and then program it on a chip which your ECM can read.

Give me a call when you get a chance and I'll see what we might have available for your truck.
