I bet your going to need about 10-12 quarts. My old truck had an E40D and it had a larger pan. I know that my 4R70W needs about 4.5-5 quarts when just dropping the pan. I service mine about every year, so thats all I do is drop the pan and change the filter and replenish the lost fluid. When I first got my truck several years ago I did that along with draining the torque convertor and I think I needed about 8-10 quarts. I can't remember exactly. Maybe someone else can be more helpful. I will say this do not overfill it.
