Quick question, swapped out I belive early 80's 302 carb to a 93 302 carb. after many issues with spark she now runs sweet. She now runs hot not over heating hot but hot. Electric gage is way over to the right ( I don't trust them anyway) I have 4bbl holley and holley intake is the thermastate degrees diferent between the years? not sure what is in the manifold right now.

I was under the impression that Ford stopped using carbs on the 302 in the mid 80's.

Not really sure throwing a new carb on will cause a temp issue though. If I were you, I'd go ahead and throw a new t-stat in there.
Nope on F150'85 and 86 were a mix of carbs and EFI. F250 86 was the last year of carbs. Then in 87 all were EFI
Hey cliff...not to be argumentative, but wouldn't '85 or '85 be considered the mid '80's? I don't think we were questioning the initial carb...at least I wasn't...but were questioning the '93 carb.
Same here, I was merely deffering my suggestion to someone who knew better than me.
This is getting interesting. But I only know about the F150. When did the F350 go EFI?
In '87 the 460 came with a holley, the 351, 302, and 4.9 were injected. Didn't matter what they where in. '87 460 was the last year of carb on any Ford. I'm 99% sure on this let me know if, you have a truck that is differant.
As to the running hot. Sounds like you need to verify the temp first. If it is hot running hot, it is possible that the new carb runs lean on that motor. Lean is hot, it would however most likely have other symptoms. If you think this might be the cause pull the plugs to see if it's lean.
I will change thermostat maybe she not closing or opening when she should. As far as the temp gauge I will change to manual gauge. As far as the truck it's a 86 f250 at one point it had a 351 (5.8) the other owner blew it up and he changed to a 302 mid 80's and put a carb on it. My son (his truck) blew the motor and we put a 93 f150 302 "long block only" we swapped everything over from efi to carb set up. sorry for the confusion.
