I'm looking at a 93 F250 as a donor vehicle for my 59. The 59 currently is on a early highboy chassis w a 460 neatly tucked in. The 93 is a 7.3 IDI 5spd 4x4. I'm hoping that the 7.3 is essentially the same dimensions as the 460 and will fit w/o too much trouble, anyone know for sure? It currently has 187k miles, with a record of all service and religious oil changes. How many miles are these worth?
Will a powerstroke fit in its place if my truck rejects the 7.3 and the transplant doesn't take?
I fit a 7.3 idi in my 94 f250 in place of a 351w. pretty easy swap if you have a whole parts truck not much wiring nice and simple mines at 210,000 still runs great and starts great, only issue you may have is fitting that big old radiator in
t-case drop is on the driver side. the 7.3 is basically the same size as the 460, only a little heavier. plan on 1200 lbs fully dressed.
as far as miles go, a well maintained engine will last damn near forever. my 88 has 494,000 miles on it and still runs like new.
