2005 explorer coolant???

2005 explorer coolant???

I need to check on my moms 2005 explorer make sure coolant level is good....if not what kind of coolant do I add?? I think she topped it off with prestone last winter I know your not supposed to mix certain coolants

If colors match you should be fine. Some of the new stuff is labeled to mix with anything. Check the label on the container first. If it was topped off last winter it shouldn't need any.

if it is a 2005 you must match the ford collant and do not mix. if you do mix it will eat from internally some of the plastic fittings and cause leaks in places not so fun to work on. it does not have to be ford brand coolant but at minimum match, even more so on the newer explorers and fords. i am in the process of finding a top side motor coolant leak in our 2005 explorer 4.0 as well. ( any help is much welcomed )
