I want to add that Ferrari uses only Mobil 1 for oil changes. Now if you think changing oil in a 6.0 is expensive, my friend has a 2008 Ferrari and it cost him $315 each change.
Valvoline Premium Blue carries a product number:64742

I went to Mobil site and it says all motor oils are made of base oils + additives, in general fully sythetic motor oils contain non conventional, high performance fluids.
They still use the term "fully synthetic" just like Shell Rotella. You can request a MSDS from them.
here is the stuff i use, i highly recommend this oil its good for all diesel trucks on the road, cj-4 rated and full syn oil not wanna be full syn like group 3 oils are:
Mobil Delvac 1 full synthetic 5W-40 diesel engine . Shipped in a case of 4 one gallon containers. Simply the finest diesel engine oil, providing a full 40 weight oil thickness protection and a superior additive package capable of providing oil change intervals of up to 100,000 miles for over the road trucks! You will be amazed with the instantaneous starting with Delvac 1 and its overall performance! If your diesel is EGR valve equipped and/or exhaust particulate filtered, Delvac 1 ESP is your answer for long lasting, trouble free operation! Mineral based diesel oils create an almost resin like substance in as little as 25,000 miles, causing the EGR valve to stick. Delvac 1's 100% "real" synthetic base stock (as opposed to Group III wannabee synthetic base stocks) stands up to the grueling temps, providing trouble free EGR performance! Delvac 1 ESP meets/exceeds API service levels CJ-4, CI-4Plus, CI-4, CH-4, CF-4, SL and SJ.
In our other trucks (9 PSDs total) I only use the Valvoine (either Premium Blue or the Extreme) or the Mobil Delvac and I agree with the comment on the trucks being much smoother vs. running Rotella. The Valvoline and Mobil are the only diesel oils I'll use.
full syn oil is the best for these engines in terms of start up in clod weather and hot weather protection, they also don't break down as easily as dino or partial syn oil does, they also should last a bit longer mile wise and not shear down as fast as regular motor oil.

If you can buy 4 gals for $25.00..... where do I sign up? If the Rotella oil is so bad why does every over the road trucker that I have talked to use it?

Readily available...and a OTR truck doesn't have the same high pressure oil system that fires the injectors like the 6.0 PSD does.
My trucks were much louder and the oil turned to sludge when I used the Rotella T 15w-40 (3000 mile oil change intervals). Romped really bad during cold morning starts as well.
They are quieter and the oil isn't nearly as thick with the Valvoline or Mobil. Start much nicer in the cold as well.
Just my experience with the 3 brands of oil in our six 7.3 PSDs and three 6.0 PSDs.
Just wondering if you guys switch back to 15w40 in the summer, I heard some guys only use the syn 5w40 in the winter. I use rotella 15w40 all year and change it every 3500 miles because I do alot of stop and go driving. Would it be better to switch to syn 5w40?
