as my sig says i got a 6.4 with 6 speed manual. last night i was driving around and all of a sudden i started getting this tick i could notice in the cab from like 1600 rpms and up especially louder when theres not much load on the engine. i just put an s&b intake on and changed the oil this last week. so i got out and checked to make sure it wasnt the intake leaking and that is fine. everything looks fine otherwise. i wonder if its just the clutch . any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i got about 6000 miles on itw
If it's just the ticking from the drivers side of the engine bay then it's nothing to worry about. Ford's stance is it's totally normal and does not signify engine damage. Numerous people have reported their tick began after an oil change. There's no "fix" though so just use it as an excuse to turn up Chicken Fried even louder

Random Ticking/tapping Noise That Is Most Audible On A Hot Engine And Is Most
Noticeable At The Rear Of The Engine And Inside The Front Wheel Wells. The Noise

Thanks to PowerstrokeHD for posting the TSB. My truck does that after oil changes. It goes away after a few hours. Apparently there is no harm in it. There was a lot of chatter on the board about this several months back.
I'll be doing my first Oil change this upcomming weekend. Should have about 3600 miles on it by then. How loud is this ticking?? I here some lifter ticking at times but it's not that loud, at least I dont think so not enough for me to realy notice unless I listen for it.
