302 Tick

I've got an 84' F-150 that used to have a 300 I-6, the guy before me put in a 302, it is a EFI Block, (judging by the lack of a mechanical Feul Pump), w/ a carb. intake. The guy must've done something cuz this motor goes real good for a 302, it'll rev high, they put a 1.23 Venturi carb instead of the 1.08 that it would normally have, it's got Moroso valve covers, and that is my reason to believe it's not a stock 302. My question is that when I shut it off, or even if I crank it over, then after it sounds like the lifters tick almost, but they don't tick when it's running. They tick ALOT, like not just one every now and again, like they tick like crazy after the motors been turned over or run. I was thinking they might be some kinda special lifters, but I have no clue, since I know NOTHING about what was done to the truck.........could anyboyd help me out?

Oh ya, and they put in a Points Distributer, w/ 2 sets of points.....instead of the one set that's in my 390

possibly a rhoads type lifter which allows for higher rpm without pumping up but can be noisy at low rpm.Put in a durasparkII dist and module and ditch the points.

well I'm too Lazy to run wires for them Duraspark, and I don't mind changing plugs and points/condensers every year or so, I like the whole one wire aproach too, and it's the same setup as the 390 I swapped into my Bronco, so I'm gonna stick w/ the points, but thanx for the Rhoads lifters point, that's what I was thinking, cuz I was gonna get a set when I was building my 390, but I decided not to

a durasparkII with a GM hei module is just one wire from your ignition and it will give a much hotter spark and probably better performance and gas mileage.
