Mine does the same thing, I feel so unsafe at times driving down the freeway. I think I am gonna get one today. I just got back from driving a few freeways and whoa it was all over on the bumps. Ive tightened the steering box and I know its not that. I am also going to order the helwig this week.
Post up how it feels if you can. Mine is blown, I don't have a rear sway bar. I had a bigger vehicle before the X, so I don't think it's too bad even with a big trailer, but if it can be better...
And I'd also be willing to spend extra money on a better damper.
I read all the posts for front end wander and handling and I am happy to say I haven't had some of the problems others have had. I can safely say my Ex is stock except for LT285/75R16E tires at 50PSI and have KYB OE Steering Stabilzer # SS10309 $51.00 from my local CarQuest Autoparts and KYB OE Front And Rear Shocks #1944238 Front $44.00/e and #1944239 Rear $66.00/e. I tow a 4000# 19' Boat from April till September every other weekend and drive the Ex daily to work, picking up the kids and just running around. It isn't by anyway a Porsche in handling but it will hold it's own on the open road and I can drive one handed while changing lanes and manuvering around without any sporatic response.
I only have the front factory sway bar with new Ford End Links and Bar Bushings. Although I will be installing the Helwig Rear Sway Bar come Spring. The front end has been replaced from stock as it has grease fittings on the ball joints ands endlinks. It will most likely never see off road like I did with my F150 back in the days of mud and dirt (SNIFF SNIFF..I do miss that truck). But it is the best driving 8000# vehicle for just about anything, and I wouldn't trade it for any little MPG saving go-kart. That's my .02
Seems someone found a way to get a very nice billstein 5100 series on his 04 super duty. I'm guessing this would bolt right onto our trucks? Maybe have to move the bracket if its not in the same spot? Waiting to see if I get any responses on the thread I just bumped with some Q's. Shock is just under $80 at a few places it seems. Its an old 70's/80's toyota/isuzu part number it seems.
The parts that he used in the other thread to mount his are the same on my 02. The only problem that I see is that it sounds like it is not a steering stabilizer. I don't think a shock was meant for or should be used as one. The valveing is different. If u want something in the silver, I would suggest using other brand and painting silver.
We replaced the stablizer yesterday and WOW is all I can say. What a difference in handling. On all the pot holes and metal bars on the freeway dont freak the steering out anymore. The only one was worse off that I thought, the shock couldnt compress completely in and was very stiff. I ended up with a Monroe because the company we ordered a better one from was taking to long. I got the Monroe for $30 at Pepboys and couldnt be happier!!!

yeah seems its a regular shock laid on its side which is not exactly ideal lol. I just want a nice bilstein shock, but I guess I will have to go to something else for now.
Yeah I notice about an 1 inch of play in the steering and its a real chore to keep it from wondering when towing my 8,000 lb camper. Do you think all I need is a new stablizer ? I got 80,000 miles on the clock. I am going to get the alignment checked and see if the tires rebalenced.
