P0171

Help.....have been getting this error code for the last several weeks......anybody else have to deal with this one......any help would be appreciated. 97 f150 4.6L

try the search mode and enter the code. Seems like I have seen alot on this here before.

did a search.......bank 1 lean condition. apparently there's more air than fuel in the mixture which causes the lean condition. bank 1 is the passenger side according to the search,

sorry not a mechanic here. I typed in po171 and got 8 pages of threads. Hopefully someone will reply soon, cause I saw you have a thread on this already with no replies. Sorry I could not help ya out. This seems to be a common issue.

P0171 or P0174 are similar. Clean de MAF sensor very well- I have done it and it worked for me

What things effect Bank 1 only? What things effect both banks? There's your dividing line. You're lean on bank 1 only, but bank 1 has 4 cylinders. Which cylinder is lean. You don't know and neither does the computer. You have to figure it out. Are you lean because bank 1 isn't getting enough fuel OR is bank 1 getting too much air without also giving additional air to bank 2. Is an injector malfunctioning. Is the pintle stuck closed? Are the injectors being commanded open at the proper time and with the proper pulse width? That's a start.
