Those housings you found are aftermarket replacement ones like I mentioned before. If they are TYC or DEPO they should be good. Post back and tell what brand they are. Whatever brand they are the store you got them from offers a lifetime warranty. I wonder what is covered.
Are you having trouble finding the bulbs we were talking about?
The Silverstar is crap, as is any colored/tinted bulb. I had tried them and thought they were kinda cool. On dark roads they look good, but on roadways with street lights they don't put out much light. In drizzle and fog they just plain suck.
I have done quite a bit of research lately and have discovered that any colored/tinted bulb is a crock. It just reduces the amount of light that comes out of the bulb.
The general consensus is that GE Nighthawk, Sylvania Xtravision, Phillips Visionplus are the best options and to stay away from blue bulbs. The silverstars output in lumens is actually less than a regular halogen. The whiter light just gives the illusion that they are brighter.
There are some other bulbs that are good, these are just the North America options.
So, for anyone interested in upgrading bulbs stay with a clear bulb.
Thats cool. I was just pointing out that the blue/white bulbs are not all they are cracked up to be.
I'm going to run GE Nighthawks. Several of my friends have Xtravision and like them.
In fact a guy did a test with his OEM bulbs and those xenon/plasma bulbs from Ebay. The Ebay bulbs were definitely blue, but the light out put on the garage door and on the road was much less.
