I want to do the LPG injection system on my Ford Bronco 5.0 1992 E04D. I have several questions:
1. Can anybody who have that system tell me what type of the system (brand) fits best for my car?
2. What type of the fuel injection on my car MFI or SFI?
The Welsh Technologies system is one I have looked at and even discussed with them. I have not yet actually invested in it but have the information and a commitment from Welsh Tech. when I am ready to do it.
Your '92 is multi-port injected but speed density triggered which means the injectors are "bank fired" in groups of four (left side and right side).
Their system uses LPG injection at the throttle body. The control unit sits piggy-back on the ECM (main computer). Its completely passive and takes fuel delivery information from the ECM to control the flow of propane into the throttle body. Basically the system makes the O2 sensor believe there is less oxygen in the fuel mixture by introducing the propane. In doing so, the main computer "thinks" there is less oxygen and compensates by leaning out the fuel delivered. Since the oxygen is being replaced with a flammable gas, the engine suffers no loss because the propane burns in place of the reduce amount of gasoline in the mixture. The benefit of this system is that IF you happen to run out of propane, the truck's computer will simply read higher oxygen levels and go back to the proper fuel mixture for the engine WITHOUT the propane injection.
And how they will organize the LPG injection in to the throttle body (where are they going to install the LPG injectors on the throttle body and as I understand they will use only two LPG injectors)? Maybe you mean the intake manifold not the throttle body?
As I understand it the system mounts the necessary LPG aspiration in the ducting in front of the TB. This allows the combined air/propane mixture to create the necessary manifold pressure without "confusing" the MAP sensor or the ACT sensor. Introducing significantly colder propane into the intake has the potential to affect the readings of the ACT sensor.
I've wrote them the letter and they answered that their system is only for diesel engines!!! It adds the propane-air mixture to the throttle body to economize diesel fuel.
Um, then they have either dropped the gasoline system and haven't bothered to tell me or I need to contact them again. When I last spoke with them it was clear that the engine we were discussing was a gasoline run Ford 5.0 (302).
