On level road or climbing when you are not accelerating the truck starts to cough and sputter . It only does it between 45 and 55 mph. as a rule. When you give it more gas it quits immediatly. My mechanic is pulling his hair out. There for a couple of months it would just do it on occasion. Now it seems to do it much more especially the other day when it was raining. It has 112,000 miles and the spark plugs and boots were changed at 102.000. Any ideas? Would appreciate any thing you offer. By the way he has tried replacing throttle sensor, crank sensor.

My truck doesthe exact same thing i changed the plugs and new fuel filter and had the fuel system cleaned. People were telling me it was the engine mounts but my mounts are fine. My truck only seems to do it when the engine is not warm at the same speed as yours in 5th gear. Once it warms up its fine. It pisses me off when it does it. I was also told to use premium and that also did not work. I have tried all the "tips" except trying new fuel injectors if you find anything out let me know. Zach
I just picked my truck up at the shop and drove it 20 miles and it did not sputter one time. So I will know tomorrow as I am going to drive it 400 mi. The mechanic told me he took it out and it sputtered and he took the boots off the plugs removed them reset the gap and put them back in and drove it again and it was fine. I still don't have to much faith in it so will see. Will let you know.
With my truck it did not matter whether it was cold or warmed up it liked coughing 45 to 55..Good luck and let me know if you find out anything....
