too many miles?
I am looking at a 92 f250 with 300000 miles. It has the 7.3 auto combo and a new injector pump. Is this too many miles on this truck? What all should I look for on this? thanks in advance Aaron
As long as it has been maintained and kept up well it should still run pretty good for a while. Make sure it is holding good oil pressure and do a compression test if necessary (if it feels low on power).
The tranny might need a rebuild if it has that many miles on it without being rebuilt.
Back about 8 years ago I had a summer job working for a landscaping company, he had an old 91 F-SuperDuty with a 7.3l IDI and it had over 500,000 miles, the truck was falling apart around the engine but it would still pull 4 ton of rock and a trailer loaded with a trencher and other equipment, up a pretty good grade. I had to drop to 3rd gear before I got to the top of it, but I would like to see anything else do what that old truck did at that mileage with no rebuild.
It was funny at stop lights you had to hold up on the steering wheel as you pushed the clutch down, because the firewall was broken and that was the only way the clutch would disengage enough to get it in gear. Once you got it rolling it would shift easily.

It needs brake lines in the rear but runs good really dirty but it has been a work truck for a tree company driven by the mechanic. Body is decent i will get the particulars on it a little more and let you all know. It is a 92 f250 reg/long box 4wd. It has a 8' uni-mount western plow on it and i can probably get the whole truck with plow for 900.
BUY IT!
It's worth that in parts.
If you get a coupl'a years out of it you'll still be doing good.
Of course you could always do the RIGHT thing and keep it running and on the road.
You're only supposed to throw away wrecked trucks or run-down computerized ones. LOL
My '94 has 371K on it and still going strong. It was pretty well taken care of though.
