hey i got a 1978 F-250 Ranger Explorer 4x4. i was wondering how rare this truck is. How many of these were built. It has the 351M backed by a C-6 with the NP205 transfercase with a Dana 60 Rear. What is the EXPLORER mean anyways. It has 111,8xx original miles and i love it. Any replies would be greatly greatly appriciated.

Your truck is a rare one because it is an F250 4x4 with the Explorer package. Most of the Explorers that I've seen were half-ton 2WDS. The Explorer package included special striping down the sides of the truck and on the hood, an Explorer hood ornament and Explorer emblems on the bedsides, special wheel covers, and an upgraded interior. Also, they usually came with the chrome bed-rails. Hope this info helps.
