I have a friend who's 03 7.3L stalls or sputters only when it rains. He asked me if I know anything because of my 99 experience. This is the only way I know of finding out if any of you might know what is up with his truck. He told me that he has taken it to the dealer and they can't duplicate the problem. I've even hooked up my AE tool to see what was in the computer and nothing shows up. If anyone has any ideas, your help would be appreciated.
Some of the 99's had problems with the windsheild's leaking on the drivers side. Check to see if there is any signs of water around the fusebox -gem area. If you don't run a hose and see if any waters gets in.
If I remember correctly, some had problems with the waterproof connection on the CPS. May need to check that the seal is in place and sealing. Did you recently have the CPS replaced?
Jim, its his buddies 03 that has the problem, lol. But Jim has something though, mine leaked on the top left corner of the window..Strong possibility.
I swear that I have ADD somtimes.......

This was my very first thought. That is something that would not throw a code, right?

IIRC he did say something about that, and I will also see if he has water around the driver's side area. He is about ready to loose his patience on this truck because he just bought it.
Thanks guys
I just had to go tow my brother's 99 off of the freeway because it stalled and would not start back up. It has done this 4 or 5 times, only when it is wet out. It has been snowy and rainy today.
Anyway, after towing him to a parking lot where we could work on it without fear of being pestered by UHP, he decided to try the starter. It fired right up! I followed him the 10 miles home, and it ran the whole way. It did have a bit of a stutter. We were throwing around theories as to what would cause this, and it has all of the classic symptoms of a CPS problem, except that it only happens when wet. And that this CPS is less than 2 months old (I realize that this doesn't mean that the part is not to blame, but I figure it makes the diagnosis a bit more questionable).
The CES light came on when he started having problems, so he is over at the stinking Auto Zone trying to get a code pulled. When he gets back home, I'll have a little more info for all y'all.
