My 2002 will hesitate/stall while I'm driving down the road only when it's raining. Sometimes it will even die when its idleing. This only occurings when it's raining. Most of the time after the truck has done it a couple of times the engine light will come one, but when I take it to an autoparts store to check the computer codes nothing comes up and the engine light goes off after the truck is restarted. Does anyone have any idea's as to what the moisture is affecting to cause this?
Check the PCM to make sure it is not getting wet. There was some trouble with the windshield seals leaking and allowing water to drip on the PCM under the dash and get the connector on the outside of the firewall wet. I cant remember if it was the 02 or 03's off the top of my head. Look at the top of the page under the "Recalls/TSB" link
i have the same problem with my '02 when it rains. i thought it might be the CPS, so i replaced it. around the same time i had gotten a bad tank of diesel and had water in fuel light come on a few times, so i drained the fuel bowl and it ran better after i filled it up with clean diesel and some DK.
i had the windshield replaced last month, i wonder if it's leaking on the PCM.
is there a quick fix for this?
I had the same problem about a year ago. Drove me crazy, and then... I discovered FTE and thanks to their advice it turned out to be the infamous CPS. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since.
This is a known problem with 02's. There is a TSB on it, it is a chaffed wire and can be repaired with tape. Ask the dealer to look for the TSB. I discovered the problem early on in 2002, and went through 3 Pedal assemblies before they accidentally found the culprit before the TSB.
i went through the TSB/Recall link and i couldnt find the tsb for either the 02 or 03 windshield. i probably missed it. if someone recalls what the TSB was that would be great. or if they know how to fix it that would be even better!
