OK sorry just checking. The California models (that were delivered and originally sold in CA) had GP controllers like the photo posted by Rick. the first relay is the Air Intake Heater relay and is not part of the glow plug system. Just making sure we are all talking the same.
Yes.....two relays . I have the wiring schematic now and will start tracing the wires back to see why the relay isn't activating. I will get back with my findings.
Hello. I also do not have a ground being provided by the PCM and do not have access to a wiring diagram. Please let me know what you find out. I know I can install a momentary push button switch to manually give a ground to the GPR and make it actuate, but I am just curious as to why the PCM is not providing the ground.
Does the PCM get temp input from a sensor that may be bad?
has anyone substituted the iah relay for a gpr relay and had any problems
I was wondering the same thing when my GPR dumped and if they could be temporarily swapped. Mine turned out to be a bad coil, relay didn't even look bad inside when I took it apart. Bought a LED to install inside to monitor it in the future so I can try to avoid any surprises.
Looks like no response from joes50pu as to what he found, and no posts anywhere else. I would lean to the broken wire but that was a good point about a temperature sensor, though I would think it would turn on the GPR year round thinking it was cold. Some temperature controllers do show high if disconnected as a safety so I guess it could be the case. I am curious to know as well.
Hi everyone, sorry I hadn't gotten back with a remedy for the GPR not energizing. I had the customer take the truck to the dealer because I reached the limit of my scanner's Capabilities. All the scanner would say was a GPR Malfunction. The Dealer ended up first replacing the engine engine compartment harness but the problem remained. Last I heard they were going to replace the PCM.
