Tony means that if you aren't there to have a fighting chance at a decent present, you never know what you end up with.

One year I did one of these at a place of employment, It was a 10.00 to 15.00 gift exchange..
I spent 40.00 because I was in the holiday spirit, but at least expected to get something worth a minimum of 10.00.. and I know its not the amount, that was spent but the thought. but the rules were if you wanted to participate, a minimum of 10.00.
I got a flashlight at the end of the exchange but not just any flashlight, a Dollar General keychain flashlight special for $1.50 with a dead battery. Maybe it was even a used one, I can't be sure at this point. I was very dissapointed. Turns out that the person that bought the flashlight was the same person that ended up with the gifts I purchased.
All In all I had to keep reminding myself that its all about the Christmas Spirit, and it is better to give than receive, but then I later found out that the person that purchased the $1.50 flashlight was one of the highest paid employees at the place of work, and always drove brand new vehicles.

I could kind of understand it if the person was struggling to make ends meet..

I ain't bitter...

However.. With this group of guys, I don't care if I receive a bag of TP.. (as long as its not used... )

We could assign one of the women to pick for her, so that they know what women want, but then again maybe it should be a guy, so that the woman assigned the task, doesn't pick between the two and keep the best one for themselves... Sneaky women... Just kidding!

Ya, I'm never good a typing what I feel or mean. Something gets lost between the brain and fingers.

As I said before. I'll cover the return postage just as long as it's not a pink elephant.

We kinda need to decide on a date time and place... I have major plans on the 6th. What's anyone think about Sunday afternoon on the 7th- do it early before all the rest of the holiday stuff...????? Emporia again? Curt would you be willing to find a place???

Just a thought -- we will of course post a poll and let everyone vote.

I agree with Jack... I know MMikes in Emporia doesn't really have a party room. Could you give the BBQ place a call maybe and see what they could do for us? Last year there was about 30 poeple or so...

Lets vote on city, kind of food, time, white elephant gift price ranges, etc... then I can narrow it down.

Can someone put up a poll? Our President is on leave do to death in the family so I'm sure that he wouldn't mind if we got the ball rolling. Probably should be a short 5 day one. I didn't see Wichita mentioned in any of the cities. I wouldn't mind the drive. I don't know about the Manhattan and Topeka people though.

I'd set one up but I'm pretty good about screwing things up around here.

I don't believe that, just sometimes all of us make a mistake a time or two.
