I've got a 04 F150 XLT 5.4L and was wondering if the Superchip Flashpaq or the Edge Evolution was a better overall programmer. I'm getting one mainly to adjust my rev limiter and speedometer for 35" tires and to clear trouble codes (check engine light for o2 sensors since I have no cats) and the like.
If you're not overly concerned about all-out performance, then they all will be able to handle the Rev, Speed and tire adjustments. I'd go with Edge or Superchips since you can usually find a good deal on them. You might also be able to pick up a good deal on an SCT X-Cal. I'm not completely familiar with Hypertech's products but several of our customers have not been very happy with their offerings.
Just to let you know, we also carry our own brand of programmer based on the Edge hardware called the Gryphon™. It's a little more expensive, but we are able to provide custom tuning and is easily updateable online through our Pegasus™ software client. However, since it doesn't seem like you really need custom tuning, you'd probably be better off saving a few bucks and going with the "Plain Jane" Evo or FlashPaq. Shoot, in this economy you need every dollar you can save!
