I'm definately glad I got my TW! Put a hitch in my uncles 99 350 dually today, he was talking up his edge so I took it for a spin... The "extreem" setting had no pickup for 5-10 sec after mashing the pedal. Even in lower gears, 6 spd, it didn't feel torque (y-ie)?? Made smoke but nothing to really back it up.
Let him run my 97, lets just say he'll probably be making a phone call before long
ive heard a lot of different stories about edge. some love it and some hate it. the only two people i know personally that have one love theirs. one has the evolution on about a 99 7.3 and you can tell a world of difference in it. the other is about a 2000 dodge with the juice module and with nothing more than the programmer and 5" exhaust he dynoed it at close to 800 lbs of torque. i guess it depends on which module you get.
Everything works good on a Dodge except:
The body, axles, wheel bearings, u-joints, suspension, steering, brakes...
did I leave something out, I'm sure someone has more
Dodge=Very expensive shipping crate for a Cummins.
Sorry, now you can slap me back...
A friends 00 PSD has an Edge Juice w/Attitude. It definitely makes more power but it has been returned to the repair shop more than its been in his truck. EGT's are uncontrollable, de-fuels too soon, CEL is on most of the time.

one of my friends just traded in his 99 dodge cummins. he has put in 3 rear ends, 4 transmissions(manual), and has had it in the shop for the past year trying to fix the front end. he said it was just plain worn out and was time to get a new one. it only had 90k miles on it......and he traded it in for a new dodge lol. on a positive note for dodge, he never had one problem out of the cummins.
one of the companies that does work for us drives nothing but older model dodges (94-95'ish body style) with the cummins. they all have close to 400k miles on them and still run great. but the trucks are just falling apart. frame rails cracked and warped so badly that the bed touches the cab, rust holes all around the fender wells, paint falling off, etc.
I have an edge evo on my truck and I love it. but then I have yet to ride in ANY other OBS truck that was turned up at all.. so I guess maybe I don't know any better.
well....I better not speak the gospel. This is a Ford site but.....just so you know God drives a Dodge.
He has enough trouble with everything else in the universe to have time to work on his truck. LOL

Judging from your signature you have only made one bad decision in your fleet........LOL.
Actually I have 8 Dodges I just figured you guys would rather read about the Fords. Hence I only listed ONE of my favorites.
I only have one Cummins though because people won't sell them cheap enough for me to have a collection.

I am not prejudiced, well except for imports, they are not yet welcome here.
Well thank God for Jimmy Carter and government backed loans, (not to mention the guidance of a former Ford exec,) huh? Otherwise, you might be owning a fleet of Mitsubishis or Daimlers. I'm wondering too, what will they call the new trucks after GM buys Chrysler/Dodge. Ramamax? Duraram?
... and of course it's difficult to buy a used Cummins cheaply. The previous owners have to recoup all that money they spent keeping the rest of the truck going by capitalizing on it's one good feature -- the non-Dodge parts.
All I know is it's A LOT harder to find Dodges in the wrecking yards and you NEVER see a Cummins equiped one there. Too much brand loyalty does strange things to the human mind. I PREFER Dodge and Cummins, that doesn't make everything else junk.
I don't think we really need to throw unsubstantiated statements all over the place do we?
I've owned a bunch of trucks and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I try to deal in facts. This is a Ford site and I expect it to be Ford biased, duh!, but I can tell you that Dodges don't fall apart around the engine. I have never seen a Cummins going down the road with out a truck attatched to it and it's usually a Dodge.
I hope this doesn't turn into a "gang beating" as that accomplishes nothing. I simply wish to correct a strange unfounded belief that whatever someone's prefered brand is will withstand nuclear war and come through without a scatch while all "lesser" trucks with evaporate into thin air.
It is entirely possible that I mistook your comments as serious when they were actually humor. If that is the case I sincerely appologize. I can definitely take good-natured ribbing, it just didn't have that air about it to me.
I would/have just as quickly defend(ed) Ford and GM owners from similar comments on Dodge sites. I'm thick-skinned I can "take-it" I just prefer to perpetuate factual information.
Well now all my comment are made in a light-hearted manner -- just because I don't intersperse the letters L-O-L here and there don't make it not so. So rest easy on that count. I'm sure you are indeed thick-skinned, else you wouldn't behere with that handle.
Now that all that is cleared up, I would appreciate it if you could point me to a salvage yard with OBS Fords in it. I have looked in several and can't find anything. All I really need is a rear wheel center cap, some door lock ***** and a driver's pillar trim.
You are very correct about one thing. I drove my truck through a nuclear blast and it actually sustained three scratches. Not indestructible by a long shot.
edited to say: OK, sorry, I guess that does sound kind of rough. It's just my nature. I'm defensive and I have a really small... well, you know.
