So do you guy's think if I get my truck reflashed wile in vegas, it will have eliminated the idle shut off we have in Ca? And do you know if the speed limiter is on all 2008 6.4's?
defueling to my understanding is where the pcm starts to limit the amount of fuel being pumped so as to limit power.
That is my understanding of defueling. There is probably a tech on here that can be more precise. that is how they are governing the speed.
the same thing happens under full throttle from a very low speed, like if you are nailing it from a stop light and leave it there, as the trans is shifting there is a slight decrease in power till it shifts.

The speed limiter is on all 6.4L's. It just happens to be set at a lower level on the F-450's due to the speed rating of the tires. Defueling is just as Senix explained it...
As for the idle shut down, getting it reflased in Vegas will not make a difference. The Ford diagnostic computers know better...
Since no one else has mentioned it, I will. There are a few trim changes for 09 and this is why I'm waiting for one. FX4 has a Luxury Pkg that includes several items that were only available on a Lariat in 08. Also, a black interior is now available on a Lariat for 09. There several other minor changes that are outlined in the Order Guide. Mostly packaging of options and things like that.
One of the local dealers here said the only real diff with the 09 is the addition of sync
and some better navigation features (whatever that might be).
Does anyone know what was fixed on '09 Job1's compared to '08 Job3's?
There's always some minor engineering tweaks/improvements that aren't publicized.
The current incentives are incredibly tempting. I can pick up an '08 F350 Lariat or FX4 supercrew
with 8' box for about $42K, but I'm holding out for the '09 simply because I try never to buy first
year production runs if I can help it.
