Hey guys are there any changes from the o8 trucks to the 09s. Changes on the engine or drivetrain, transmission or on the truck itself. Nobody including the dealer seems to know for sure. OK like I said before do they call these trucks Job 1 2009 models. Just some questions that has me guessing.
Pahrump1 is correct, no real changes other than a few packages and options. Job 1 09's are about over with anyway, yet I still do not expect any real changes for Job 2's either...
About the only real powertrain/drivetrain related change that I did notice is the TorqShift now uses Mercon LV instead of Mercon SP. This increased the maintenance interval to 60K regardless of normal or severe use...
Where are these 09's? I'm in Palm Beach County, Fl. According to the local dealer websites there are none in stock as of now.
Most dealers are not ordering much in the way of new dealer stock so they do not get stuck with it sitting on the lot. The majority of the 09's that are running down the line now at KTP are for retail and fleet customer orders. The other thing is '09 Job 1 is a fairly short production run at about 12 weeks. After Job 1 is done (middle of December), there will be about a 6-8 week down time before Job 2 begins sometime in the beginning of February...
I noticed that Ford deleted the 4.88 gears for the F-450 and now only offers the 4.30 regardless of transmission. The wierd thing is that the specs show the 6.4 derated to 325hp and 600lbs./ft. with 4.88 gears or the 6 speed. According to that, I wonder if all of the '09 F-450s are 350/650 since the only gearset now is the 4.30.......
There was a thread somewhere that the guy was complaining about his '09 450 shutting down when idling. Depending on where you buy the truck, the '09's have an engine idle shutdown timer included to comply with anti-idling laws in certain states (Kalifornia for instance). The timer is not adjustable and cannot be re-programmed because it falls under the "emissions" bs.

Thats crazy right there....they are going too far now.
But as for getting around it, I dont want to speak outn but I would guess Spartan can get around it

If you have a aux PTO / idle control you can idle up the engine as if the PTO was engaged and it will not shut down, it can also be reprogrammed as some of our 09s came with this feature and it is now disabled. 09 also dropped the special fan clutch for snow plow prep trucks and added the cabellas and harley models.
I don't think I remember anyone saying DPFs couldn't be removed but is it legal to remove them nope.

The 4.88's were dropped starting with Job 3 '08 and the trucks with the 6-speed are still derated to 325/600 with the 4.30's...

This was a Job 3 '08 addition. It is removeable by the dealer if your truck is not registered in one of the "green states". If it is registered in a green state, it is just as illegal for a dealer to remove as a DPF...

I read that the Idle feature....on the 2009 trucks is adjustable ...it will help with the cooling of the ETG before turning off the truck. You are to let your truck idle 3 - 5 min
before turning off . I have not see anything about EPA issues or anti-liding laws...
The instructions for cooling down of the Super Duties ...Idling is in the Owners manuel .
Per Ford... When installed, the shutdown system will turn off the engine to reduce tailpipe emissions if the engine has been idling for five minutes (or fifteen minutes if the parking brake is not engaged), the engine temperature is above 60F and the transmission is set in "neutral" (or "park" if applicable).
Keep in mind that this is only required on trucks with a GVWR of 14,001 or more (F-450 and up) in the states of CA, CT, DE, GA, ME, NJ, NY, NC and PA when not exempt (i.e. military, emergency, busses, RV's). It is optional on all others...
