Shhot, I was hoping it somehow monitered the TC slip/rpm diff. between the motor and trans. Thanks for clearing that up.
I couldn't think of what DP would be, even checked "the list", makes sense.
Okay... Here's one that will make you scratch your head (or point to a solution instead). I realized that the slippage only occurs when I put on my left turn signal, and only if I'm in the top two gears. Without fail. Any ideas?
Otherwise, it's just noisy, may shudder in the beginning of any gear, shifts late when cold, and when under WOT, the engine revs great, but the truck stays behind. I'm beginning to think that my rough idle is related to the transmission in some way, also. When i'm under the truck (idling in park), the engine seems to be purring away while the chugging sound seems to come from the transmission area. Of course I could be mistaken, but this is my observation. Hope this info lines up with someone's theory...
Just guessing but would the "computer" hold it in the lower gear longer when cold to help warm the truck up?
Mine seems to do that. And so does my Cherokee.
X2...third brake light does some weird S#$% when its out...sounds funny but true
I'm curious about your bed.
My '97 Power Stroke needs a new bed. In fact it's white and if I knew where you lived I come and steal yours. LOL
Did you have any problems mounting yours?
What year is the white bed you put on your truck?
I've heard there are some wierd size '97 beds/trucks.

Its off a '96.....nothing weird....just bolted up with no problems....had a flatbed when I bought the truck. If I can find one in better shape I will sell this one......has a few dents and a small rust bubble.

It does do that but not a gear change. The PCM won't allow the TC to lock until a certain temp on most PCM calibrations.

I noticed that the other night when I left my shop. It took a good 2-3 miles on the highway before the TC locked up.
I totally belive you about the RPM/shifting thing but it sure SEEMS like it runs to a higher rpm when cold.
I'm assuming the TC only locks in OD?

That's good to hear.
I'm going to look at a white bed about 80-100 miles away hopefully this weekend and I don't want to come home with a "yard ornament".
Now I'll quit
finally replaced my passenger side brake light, and no more slippage. next is the third light. sadly enough, I need to wait until my next paycheck... thanks a bunch tim - reps sent!
Sounds like a lockup issue to me too, what does the trans have to see to stay in lock-up?
As for the vibration, I think driveline vibration usually gets progressively worse with speed. You could check for TC shudder by stepping on the brake and giving it a little fuel while in gear, but be careful, this will heat up the tranny fast!
