I have a 1990 F-350 EFI with a 460. The heads cracked where the manifold bolts in and I got another set of heads. The "newer" heads don't look the same. My orginal heads have four bolts down the center of the valve cover and the "new" ones bolt around the edge. I am not able to find the number on my orginal heads but the "new" ones are D3VE-A2A. Will these work? Thanks in advance.
460 EFI heads differ from carb'd heads. D3-- on a part indicates 1973 as the date of intro of that part. Based on what I've seen here and in the 385 threads, those heads will not work. You'll probably get more posts here about this.
They won't work, while they will physically bolt to the engine the ports are different between the carb and EFI engines, I believe (and I may be very wrong) that the best heads for EFI 460's came from 95/96 engines so far as flow rate goes
Okay, my turn!!! Everyone is correct when they say the D3's won't work on FI application. Why Ford did this I don't have a clue but only the #7TE and F3TE heads will work(f3te'S ARE MUCH BETTER). The small block Fords make no difference on FI or carbed just the 7.5 (COULD BE BECAUSE THE 7.5 LASTED THE LONGEST OF THE PUSH ROD CROWD)!!!
