I have this truck i am working on. The glycol is good for 20 degrees. Is there a calculator to figure how much do drain and fill with 100 % glycol to get it to -20? I searched for one on the web and came up with nothing useful.
To remove all doubt, drain it and do 50/50 with distilled water. That should cover most regions. You could go as much as 70% antifreeze, but even at 50, you will be at your desired -20 and then some. 50% maximizes the freezing protection and boiling point.
Never put in 100% antifreeze! And only in the most exteme conditions should anyone use more then 50% usually less should be used. Antifrreze is used to condition the coolant (water) and on it's own is a very poor coolant. I have seen many vehicles overheat because people didn't know to mix the antifreeze. I don't know were you live but even if it does occasionaly get that cold the engine must sit for a while at those low temps to freeze. And if you do let your tuck sit at those low temps the oil is to thick and battery to cold for the truck to start and you need a block heater.
