My turbo is boostin way too much, the truck sat for a couple of weeks while i was trucking and now when i drive it just screams at me. Barks everytime i let off the pedal, i can get 25 lbs boost at highway speeds on flat ground, not accelerating. I know these turbos get sticky when they sit but when they stick do they still cycle through there little stages when warm idling? Whats wrong??? Its got a liberator egr delete kit, triple dog, straight piped and cold air intake. Never had a problem with it til it sat for 2 weeks
The inside of the turbo rusts and locks the vanes in one position. There is rust where the vanes are supposed to move and possibly where the unison ring (which actuates the vanes) mates to the turbo at it's inside diameter.
Your turbo is going to need to be either cleaned or replaced. These trucks can not tolerate sitting idle. I learned the hard way.
I just finished tearing apart the turbo, cleaning all the rust off, and all the parts move freely. Runs good, good power, but still getting way too much boost. It cycles nicely when it idles, evrything works as it should but driving it is scary cuz it boosts too much. thinking im gonna dump this thing off to a dealer, im tired of fixing it, i wanna have a reliable driver. this is crap! Its terrible that now a days you have to put $20,000 in aftermarket parts into a $65,000 truck just so its reliable and operates like you would expect!! where did the quality go??? Oh, ya, its an 03 and this is turbo number 2, been to the shop 9 times for turbo removal and cleaning, and im outta ideas
