Keyless remote programming
#16
Jacob, you may have the same issue as me. My truck came with factory key fob's but my remote entry won't work. I have tried every conceivable way to program them with no luck. When I bought the truck the locks were weak, they claimed to have replaced both actuators. I'm thinking diffeerently. The dealer mailed me the fob's after the fact. I'll have to do some digging into this one.

Jim. I've been fixing actuators on my wifes truck. Weak actuators will still make an audible click in the doors, even though they won't unlock anything. The door unlock button didn't unlock the doors with the bad actuator either, but would give the audible click of them making the attempt.

It was an option, so maybe. Does his truck have a key FOB for it now? If so, does it look like a Ford factory one, or different? If there is an after market keyless entry system, look under the dash for the control box and then google it to see if you can find the instructions to enter the programming mode.
If the truck never had a key FOB, then odds are, there is no factory GEM. You can still have an aftermarket keyless entry added though.

Maybe it is the VSM. I had GEM stuck in my head for some reason.
