take off your valve cover, look for a red single wire that is pushed on to a nipple. take off that wire and there is your Glow plug.
you need a 10 or a 12 THINWALL socket to do this though. and when you do take out the glow plugs be very carfull. because then can break in half and fall into your cylinder. then you need to remove the head to get it out.
dont use autolite glow plugs they will break off next time you change them and put some antiseze on the threads of the new glowplugs so there easy to take out.
overall a simple job
some one else will chime in for all the details

Glow Plug Relay

Someone rightfully stated recently that 90% of glow plug problems are as a result of glow plug relay failure. Be sure to check the relay found under to fuel filter cowl before you pull the rocker covers. Check the terminals for heat damage, the relay is made of phenolic plastic and becomes brittle quickly from heat generated by the current passed. I my case it looked ok but the terminal came out of the relay when i put a socket on it as a result of heat damage. Examination of the relay revealed that as a result of poor design the relay is not adequate amperage capacity for the job intended. To reduce the amperage and increase relay life i installed two relays in parallel thus lowering the amperage on each relay and providing longevity and redundancy.
Don't pay big bucks at Ford for the relay, use NAPA part number GPR-109 and by in most parts stores for $ 22.00. If you ask for relay by name, year model ect at Auto Zone and other part houses, you will pay $80.00 for the part.

Don't forget it can be the wires going to the valve cover gasket or the wires under the valve cover that go to the GP's..

Thanks for the info?fuel transfer pump

This web site is the best!!It and my nieghbor (who owns a350)are about the only things keeping from having buyers remorse.Absolutely love the power and the truck itself. but the guy Ibought it from didn't take care of it and honestly I was intimidated to work on it cause its a Diesel. So I took it to the local mech who I think oky-doked me.So after re-applying for my man card, I'm replacing my GP's and going to find out if they actually replaced my fuel transer pumpw/ new hoses. Anyone know where those are?

The fuel pump is located at the top of the engine valley, between the HPOP and the turbo.
