Need help please.....

When I am going down (5-10 mph) a steep grade in 1st gear and get to the bottom (auto tranny) and the RPM's are high (2500ish) and shift back into drive, the RPM's drop to below 500 and the truck shuts off (almost like it stalls out). No CEL comes on and it starts back up fine......Any Suggesions??????

No other problems but I do have loss of power when engine it is cold (fine when it warms up) and it does seems to shift into third gear a little early when driving slow.

 

Forgot ... I can manually shift the tranny through the gears and everything works fine, it is only happening with high RPMs in first gear when shifting to drive.

 

If I do that and I'm down to that low of speed my TC will unlock and it will go to idle.

 

If I leave it in 1st and come to a stop everything is fine...it's when manually shift it back to drive that the RPMs dive way down and the truck shuts off.

 

so get a stick or stop manually shifting just kidding
