Gauges not going to zero when engine is not running.
I have a 1992 F-150 and after I turn my truck off, the fuel, temperature, and oil gauges stay where they were when the engine was running. They no longer go all the way to the left when I turn my engine off. The battery gauge is the only one that normally goes to zero when the engine is off.
You're saying all your guages used to return to zero when shut off?
The fuel and temperature guages are designed to stay where they were at when the ignition is shut off.
As for the oil guage, I'm not sure. I have observed this on different trucks for a long time. About every 94 or so and older with tach, and every non-tach I've seen, don't zero when shut off. I'm guessing it's normal.
This is something I've always wondered about. My 95 and 97 (tach) both return to zero when shut off but my non-tach 95 and the spare non-tach 96 cluster I have don't.
