DP-tuner pcm flash
I have a 2001 f250 7.3 118,000 miles I am wanting to send in my pcm to DP-tuner to get it flashed, Can you get any of the tunes flash on it, and if so what tune do you recommend, its pretty much my daily driver except very occasional towing of 6000# trailer and a car hauler with my 73 mud truck on it. What tune would you guys recommend? Thanks
edit: I also live in wisconsin does this affect cold starting? Thanks

Go for the 80hp Econo flash. Tell jody to try to work out the "fuel lag" (as i call it) in the lower RPM's. On my 80 econo program, there is a definite fuel lag programmed in to prevent smoking until the turbo begins to spool up. I use that setting the most, and alot of guys here have a 80hp flashed PCM.

according to jodys site, you can no longer send your pcm back as a core and recieve the 175 bucks back.
not sure why. maybe he has enough cores. so, the flash is 75 bucks plus shipping,
for any performance tune, or 250 bucks for his supplied with flash. and the flip chip
$245 with one tune and 45 for each additional.

That just blows my mind... I could tow in the 125 setting before injectors with no issues... Control the EGT's with your right foot...

I went with the 40hp tow tune for my ~9k 5th wheel. My EGTs stay in check so well that I rarely have to check them (just a quick glance going up hills). However - they were out of control when I had boost leaks. Nervewracking. And how did I know I had boost leaks? Gauges! Imagine what damage I could have done if I ran 40hp tow with those boost leaks....
Having said that, you could go with 60hp tow for only a 6000lbs trailer. Of course, ask Jody for a definitive answer. But get gauges. BTW the flash is a great deal. I have to feed my PMS on a budget...

Before, and without the pcm flash, I could push 1250 easily. If I didn't let up going up some not so steep hills, I could see where it would go right through 1300. Obviously didn't want to do that, so I spent alot of time climbing hills in 3rd going 55 (one time I had to do 2nd at 40). I was left wondering if all trucks were like that. Then some threads about "hissing under the hood" got me thinking and I looked closely at my y-pipe and "voila" as they say...
Now I go up the same hills, with the 40hp flash, boost leaks fixed (and I did get the BTM) and it's much lower. In fact I could probably go to the 60hp because I have more "room" ...
- - - by the way I did make a boost leak detector like that sold on dieselsite, it did help me also. I determined that my intercooler boots were not leaking but I replaced them anyway - - -
