So this is my second oil change on my x the first was done by ford for free, but this time I have to pay so I would rather save some money and do it my self. My question is what oil and oil filter do you guys recommend for my 02 diesel x it has 138235 miles, also how hard is it as I have never done it myself. Thanks for the help, and info.

I used to use Chevron Delo, but the last oil change I switched to Valvoline Premium Blue just for grins.
The only filter I'll use is the Ford Motorcraft FL-1995.
I think some guys use filters from Napa.
Changing the oil is a breeze, especially with a Fumoto valve installed. I just hook up a small hose to the nipple, open the valve and drain the oil directly into the 2 gallon recycle jug provided by my curbside garbage company.
While that's draining, I pop a hole in the bottom of the oil filter and let it drain into an oil pan. Once that finishes draining, I removed the old filter, grab the new filter and once I fill it almost full of the new oil, install it on my rig.
I then close the Fumoto drain valve, disconnect the hose, take everything out from under my rig, and fill the beast with a thousand gallons of new oil.
Heh, it actually only seems like a thousand gallons. It usually takes between 3.5 and 3 & 2/3rds gallons.

PS - Even though I keep an Excel spreadsheet maintenance log for all my vehicles, I still put the date I change the oil on my filter with a black sharpie.
If I'm not mistaken the oil filter for the 6.0 is on top of the engine. I get it done at the dealer for $59. Then I get the $14 tire rotation at the same time.
My gas vehicles go to the their respective dealers and I get the $16 LO&F. Plus they throw in now wiper blades, front and back. Then I spring for the $14 tire rotations too.
I save the coupons that come in the mail from the different dealers and find the cheapest one and call the other dealers and ask if they will honor the same price. They have always said yes. I can't imagine trying to do a tire rotation myself on the beast.
Mobile 1 5w-40 Full synthetic oil is my cup of tea for this truck. Especially with cooler weather, it will maintain viscosity through out the varying temperatures better than 15w-40 IMO, but then again, everyone has their own opinion on this. Best suggestion, try different things, and find what works best for you.
