just bought a v-10 excursion, I liked it so much I'm thinking about trading my 02 ram pickup in on a 2001 excursion psd with 160k. Is this to many miles? Should I just keep my truck? Not planning on getting it perform any particular task other than daily driver.
I have a 2000 F250 4x4 crew cab 7.3 PSD with 117,000- it still runs as strong as the day I bought- if it was properly cared for- thats not alot of miles- they can go a LONG time
The engine is probably fine but the truck might not be.
I just was given a 2000 V10. It needs a few things. The front springs sag a little and clunk over big bumps, the u-joint clunks when starting and stopping, and the brakes shimmy a little.

They're little nicks from over the years, that weren't properly treated with touch-up paint, and started to rust a bit, on the bumpers only. They're far from bad though.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I live in the south and don't have to deal with rust at all. I don't know how y'all put up with it.
It's a fact we live with. But I have my Excursion because my 98 Expedition bit the rust bucket. Brake lines, fuel lines, trailing control arms, virtually everything. Great truck, ran like a top. It just wasn't safe to drive.

I just got rid of our 94 Infiniti J30t with 204k miles on it and not a spec of rust anywhere and my 93 F-250 is the same way.
To the OP, 160k is nowhere near too many mile for the engine. But like has already been posted, check out the rest of the rig to see if it was "driven hard and put away wet."

Sway bar end links are what's making your 'clunks' and just grease the u-joints. When they're low on grease they'll have slop.
To the OP, ask if the ball joints have been done and check them yourself, need a jack for that. And ask if there's been any tranny work. If you can check the turbo impeller for condition and any freeplay by removing the intake hose. 160K is OK in my book, like others have said, the motor's fine but check the rest of the truck.
