suggestion wanted

I currently have a '02 F150 with a 4.6. I have never owned a diesel and have no experience with them. I have found a '04 F250 6.0 auto with a 6" lift and 37" tires. After reading the Oasis report, the following has been done to the truck
replaced front sway bar links
new trans and cooler @ 6300 miles
updated PCM
new brakes and roters
The truck currently has 45000 miles on it. They are asking $25,000. I love my F150 but the thought of the power and looks of this truck are tremendous. Are the claims on this truck common, and will this truck last? Just looking for some thoughts. Thanks.

I'm some where near 130k miles on my 03 and its been pretty rock solid, I'm a firm believer in that proper maintenance with these rigs will get you good results for longevity

Welcome to the forum.... I have a 2005 F-350 4x4 with the 6.0 and I would not trade it for anything.. the 6" lift and 37" tires might have something to do with the sway bar links and the brakes and rotors could be just bad driving habits on the previous owner. Properly taken care of the truck will last. Make them a reasonable offer on the truck and see what they say.

I have an '04 that is a really good truck. A set of gauges, coolant filter, high idle mod, etc must be seriously considered for preventive maintenance. I learned on this forum AFTER my issues how to take care of my truck. Proper fuel filter change intervals along with using only Racor fuel filters. Changing oil at the required intervals is super important. Don't try to get more horsepower out of it unless you are equipped properly; ARP headstuds. I'm sure Bismic will be here soon with a ton of info for you!!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Do you have to drive a diesel different from a gasser? If so how?

I have an 03 F350 6.0 Dually that I bought just this summer. Oasis had latest updates, turbo was serviced once, then a year later was replaced. It only had 33K when I got it. I changed oil and filter, and fuel filters. Its been a pleasure to tow with and no problems. I towed 700 miles puling my race car trailer @9500lbs. My wife went about 800 miles round trip pulling our horse trailer. Plus I tow every week about 60 miles round trip. This truck is a dream compared to my old gasser.
Just as jmaskew said, I've learned on this forum that proper maintenance is Very Important!
I am very happy with mine. Good luck on yours and keep us posted!

You must let it warm up before you put your foot in it. This is why aftermarket gauges are very important. I don't go above 2,000 rpms until my Oil Temp gets to 160 degrees. I just putt down the street until it gets up to temp then I drive normal.

Generally speaking, the adage "drive it like you stole it" applies here. No kidding.
If you buy this truck (they're asking too much, by the way - you should get it for around 20k), I'd recommend driving it often - at least three or four days a week. And once every week or two, after it's warmed up good, run the hell out of it up over 3100 rpm to blast the soot buildup out.
Ask if the EGR valve has ever been cleaned. 04s are known for coolant burping (boiling over from the reservoir) so check around the reservoir cap and hood for crusted dried coolant.
Assuming it has an auto transmission, it's programmed to learn and adapt to your driving habits. So if you lightfoot it around all the time, it will drive like a big marshmallow. Get after it once in a while. That said, the 6.0 doesn't take kindly to being souped up and hot-rodded. Many head bolts and head gaskets have gone bye-bye running hot tunes.
I could go on all day - read up here and do your homework!
