I've had to use my spare, and the hitch wasn't an issue.
the one i installed on my 88 4x4 had to cut a little off the end of the spare holder-wasn't bad to use it though-but i always carry a floor jack as an extra anyway just use the floor jack to raise and lower it-half the time when ya get it off you throw in in the bed of the truck for like 6 months anyway

Really?! They put the spare tire under these trucks when they were new? I didn't know that! LOL...Yeah I don't carry my spare underneath any of my trucks either... especially on my 84 F150. How would you get a 35x13.50 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw to hang under there anyway?
