White smoke??

White smoke??
My 88 in my sig is very cold natured and when you start it cold it blows white smoke. Is that just plain ol air intrusion??
I'm replacing the water fuel separtor this weekend (its leaky) along with putting new o-rings and caps on the injectors(also leaky).
Could these be the cause of my white smoke, or do I need to look somewhere else to find my problem?
On a sidenote, this thing won't blow black smoke to save its soul only dark grey, I thought these old diesels were supposed to be black smoke betties?

I was just sitting here wondering where I'd seen that before.
As far as your truck goes I think you should be seeing some black smoke as I assume you have no turbo. My 6.9L definitely smokes but I think the IP's been farted with so I don't know for sure.

Remember black smoke is fuel that was not burned completely, to much fuel for the amount of air in the cylinder.
So the more you see, the more fuel you did not get all the power out of.
If I put the pedal on the floor, I can blow plenty.
But with today's fuel prices unless I really need power, the throttle don't go to the floor very often.
Even when using lighter throttle applications, if the black gets dark the throttle comes up some.
