Have installed a set of lighted running boards on a 2007 E350 XLT. I'm looking for an easy way to tap the delayed Dome Light wiring. Has anyone done this on an E350? I have seen other posts regarding the F series - they say it is a Black/blue tracer - the one I found doesn't seem to be what I want.
you could just go find the wiring to the dome lights - either in A pillar or B pillar. probably drivers side.
but as a former installer here is what i would do on the assumption i do not know what color wire to look for...
if only headliner lamps delay:
*pull off cover or drop light down from headliner to test for correct wire on delay circuit.
*note wire color
*try to see which direction roof harness heads from lamp under inspection
*having determined direction, i would pull threshold (step) on that side and look for matching wire color in harness under threshold plate.
*test and confirm wire is correct
*depending on how many lamps were in the running board, i would wire it directly or add a relay
if door courtesy lamp is also delayed:
*find harness in the kick panel
*find door harness
*find correct wire
*wire up step lamps for that side
*repeat for other side
my 2 cents
