thunderbird steering column
On my 79 thunderbird were the steering column and gear box come together it looks like there is a plastic spacer missing.I pulled a couple of pieces of broken plastic from the union area Can someone tell what its called to help simpllfy my parts search THANKS

I believe the correct term you're looking for is "flex couple" or something to that effect. A much more colloquial term is "rag joint"...use the latter phrase and even the dumbest of counter jockeys is likely to understand what you need.
In '96 I got a couple from the local Ford dealer for the '78 LTD II I had at the time. I'd imagine they've long since quit making it, but you never know.
