feels like christmas in october, first Jeremy gets his bada$$ truck running now Kris is about to. looks like a bunch of great parts good luck with the rebuild Kris!!
I took a bunch of parts to the Powdercoater today, and dropped the bock off to get bored, crank, rods, damper, and flexplate to get balanced, and then the pistons showed up at the machine shop today. Thursday everything will be done and i'll begin to start putting everything back together!
Also dropped the fuel tank, cut out the in-tank pickup mods i already had, bored a hole and installed the 5/8" pickup, routed the line, removed the Dahl 150, and mounted the ginormous Aeromotive A1000 pump on ITP's bracket.
Kris, as a friend, I ask you to slow down. You have time. Don't rush it. Take a few notes from Jeremy please. I am impressed, I don't want to be depressed.
I have time, i am "rushing it" along in the interest of time, but not to the point where im skipping anything or leaving something vital out just to get it running sooner. Im just going to be slaving a few nights on it putting the engine back together and back in, however ive got time sorted out for that.
Just found out today that the crank won't be ready..
Damn.
They had to add 4000 grams of bob-weight to the journals to equalize the crank counterbalancer weights, and his machine only has 3000 gram cartridges. So, he has to order more weight. I suggested matching the weight of the pistons to the other set (that's up at his shop for reference, and the new pistons are 30g heavier than the old ones, which translates to about 8 ounces of tungsten heavy-metal that needs to be added to the crank. I also suggested taking 15 grams off the inside of the wristpin, he's testing that on an old one for me, we'll see how it goes. Bummer it wont be ready, but it's out of my control now.
Kris, I do not know all this stuff well enough to tell by just the pictures and I believe I missed this info somewhere along the line but were you not going to swap in a Cummins? Did that change? Sorry to rehash what has probably already been discussed at length.
He couldn't get over the fart cannon sound. Ouch Kris sorry to hear about the delays maybe something will come up and you can get her out there just don't cut any corners, thats a good bit of money to add a window.
