Hi all,
I am the proud new owner of a used 08 F-350 with a 6.4l stroker with 25k miles. I have driven Fords all my life but this is my first diesel. I am looking for a little advice on some basic first things to do such as larger exhaust, cold air intake, chip programmer that won't void my warranty, etc... Thanks in advance for any replies.

Congrats on the truck and welcome to FTE! Post up some pics.
As for as I know you cannot modify ANY (including tail pipe) of the 6.4 exhaust system without voiding the warranty. The intake and chip are a bit different but you may get declined warranty work if the service department at the dealer determines those modified components caused a failure. Usually if you work with them they will work with you and they'll realize that not everything failed because you changed an intake or some other mod. Call the service department where you will be getting warranty work done and see what they say about any mods you might do. They'll usually tell you what is ok, what might not be ok and what will void the warranty.
Wonder why someone dumped thier new truck with only 25k on it. I would get an Oasis.
Our credit unions/local lending institutions are getting repossessions in like mad right now. People are defaulting on their loans like it's the housing market. I talked to my credit union, the guy that handles auto sales (selling repos) and he said it's never been this busy. So, if it's an expensive truck, it could definitely be something the guy couldn't make the payments on. Trucks and SUVs are the largest portion of their inventory.
I have an acquaintance who leased a truck, expecting to buy it at the end of the lease. He was thinking extended test drive. Trouble is, the leasing company wanted to sell him the vehicle for the contract price agreed upon at the front end. Even though they knew they would be auctioning it off at a much lower price, they would not cut him a reasonable deal, so he let it go and then bought another one used from a local dealer.
Reminded me at the time of the way phone, cable and internet companies will offer deals to switch to them that they won't offer their existing customers to stay...
