How to do shim to raise fuel pressure?

Couldnt find the info on how to do this mod, how do I do this and how can I set up a gauge to read the fuel pressure? I was looking at the fuel pressure regulator kit diperformance.com sells, but dont feel like dropping the 500 for the kit at the moment.

Have you measured the fuel pressure?
Without going into a long explantion, it has been found that anything over 65-70 psi makes it worse. The engine/injectors, etc seem to work best with that.
.
With that said, there is this, Diesel Innovations sells an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that you can change out the shims with.

.
EDIT: here is the link. CLICK HERE

Kwik, I looked into that, but I don't think they sell them anymore.

TTford07, you can go here to purchase a gauge, you can mount one in the cab which requires an isolator so you are not running fuel to the gauge in the cab or just mount on under the hood.

I would hook up a gauge first to see if you even need to shim the FPR.

If you do need to increase pressure you can do the #4-40 hex head bolt shim.
I tried to find the thread on it but the search function is not working.

Try searching FPR shim.

My 99 runs stock about 68 lbs, which is ideal with my fuel gauge.. Like Jason say, measure your pressure first..

Here is a photo write-up on shimming the FPR. But you need a fuel pressure gauge before shimming the FPR so you know the before and after pressure!

Shimming FPR
Even shows how to install temporary fuel gauge.

I knew I had seen this before. I googled "FPR shim". Use the quotes.
