Help! I'm stuggling with a door ajar problem. This is a 2007 XLT crew cab 6.0 L PSD that I'm rebuilding. The door ajar warning keeps coming up and the dome lights want to be on all the time. I have taken the door apart and tested all the switches. The front doors have power to the switches and the switches close when the door is closed. The back doors do not have power to the switches; however both switches close when the doors are closed. I wonder if the doors are not getting power. I have checked the fuses and all seem to be working except for 30, 31 and 32 that the owners manual indicate are for the high beams, the starter relay, and the radio. All of these seem to work well.
I had a 2000 mazda b-series truck with the same problem. the dome light stayed on indicating the door was ajar even though it was shut. I researched the problem online and found it was an issue common with ford (mazda is made with ford parts). I found that by adding WD-40 to the door jam latch would cure it. The latch was stuck open and would not latch down when the door shut, leaving the door ajar light and dome light to stay on. And sure enough just simple wd-40 fixed the problem. how easy right?
