Jumpy throttle

Here's a question guys. My throttle is very jerky, or jumpy. When I slowly let off the throttle it will back down slowly to a point and then drop. It's like there's no middle ground. I do have the pedal modified, but I've watched the voltage and it seems smooth on a graph. I'm thinking it's the pedal and I don't have something quite right. But I was wondering if anyone else had that problem and is it something else. Let me know what yall think.

May be the IVS ...But I would watch ICP & IPR DC% while it is happening ...(see if they are fighting)...

sounds to me like the tp sensor is not ready for the ivs to activate when it is. in my opinion it needs the tab bent on the ivs

Rick, what do you mean by "fighting"? I have the scan gauge that I can monitor both on. What exactly am I looking for?

cOOn, are you saying the TPS is ramping up before the IVS trips open? It's not a hair trigger right now. I guess there shouldn't be a voltage increase before the IVS trips...does that sound right?

As the pedal returns to idle ..IPR DC% may remain High (PCM calling for more )

TPS won't do anything untill it sees the IVS doing its thing ...

Okay, if I have the TPS cranked too much, once the IVS tripps it all the sudden has for sake of argument 2 volts, and should start at say .8...... That would cause it, right?

Yes that would cause a jumpy start. Not sure it would do anything though the test of the pedal range though.

Well, I'd have to test with the meter and my ear. I'd have to watch and make sure there's not a voltage increase before I hear the click.

Jake, I've been watching my gauge and it doesn't seem to jump up when it happens, nor does it drop like a rock. But it is an electrical gauge. I've yet to monitor it on the scan gauge, but I'll definatly look at it when I get the chance. Also, I'm running the IPR from the 95 with the edge filter on this modified 17*. I swapped it to see if it changed the long crank to start. I need to put my 02 IPR back in as well.

nope. it's the same now as it was then. it has missed slightly since i got it from you, but not really enough to notice. not really even sure if it's from the pedal, but sometime you try to rev it and it sounds like it wants to die out, but it has done that like twice. i will get the tps and see if it will work in my truck and if it does then i will give yours back.

that leads me to a question.... i only bent the ivs tab. didn't drill out the tps. does that make any difference with the pedal? will it still work right if you just bend out the ivs tab or do i need to finish doing the hot pedal mod on it and drill out the tps?

Here's what you do, take my pedal off your truck. Take the TPS off my pedal and install the new TPS, then promptly hand it to me. Take the TPS that has "missed" a few times and put it on your pedal, then re-install. LOL There is NO test, retest with the new parts, unless you are buying more. Electronic parts are not refundable. I don't want a TPS that your truck has "Infected"! LOL
